Montalto Shopping

Most general supplies can be brought locally. Montalto shopping includes a greengrocer, small supermarket, fresh and frozen fish shop, two butchers, gift shops and tobacconist, four cafes, bank, post office, hardware. There is a slightly larger supermarket just 5 minutes away. If you would like a large supermarket or a wider range you will need to travel further a field. Note the Italian times – shops will open around 9:00 and close 12:30 ish. They don’t open again until around 4:00 until 7:00-8:00.

Every Wednesday in Montalto there is a small but vital market with plenty of food, plant, hardware, kitchen ware, clothing and shoe stalls. Well worth a visit especially for the fried seafood or porchetta panini - perfect for that late breakfast or lunch.

Grottammare: The nearest supermarket that is open every day in the summer month’s 8:00 till 8:00 is Cityper in Grottammare. Take the Grottammare road from Montalto and follow the signs for the motorway. Go past the motorway entrance to the roundabout, turn right and after a kilometer or so you will see the signs for Cityper.
